I’ve mentioned before about how monopoly is my favourite board game ever, and I started feeding Gizmodo yesterday (trialling that, they update like 50 million (minus the million) times a day. Which is a lot.
And thus when one of their articles was about the 75th Anniversary Edition Monopoly Board, you could say I was interested.
The comments in particular were rather amusing. The fact that the first on was exactly what my first thought was was pretty cool – how do you cheat if the money’s all done electronically? Stealing $500 notes when nobody’s watching is half the fun
“Be warned, as soon as I can fit a card skimmer on here you can just give it up, I don’t care if you own Boardwalk and Park Place, that money is coming back to me…”
Also, as to a circular board, “Looks like Hasbro is saving money in this economic downturn the old fashioned way, by cutting corners” was my favourite comment. How can you have complete domination of one side of the board when you don’t have boards…only quadrants?
Apparently the original board design was circular…which is all well and good, aside from the fact that the originally released game board wasn’t.
Not impressed.
